Production Supervisor

Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations within the Clean Manufacturing Environment (CME). To help define, set-up, maintain and improve production processes for new and existing products with focus on electro-mechanical devices. The post-holder will be responsible for monitoring performance versus targets and ensuring that the goods are produced efficiently to the right cost and quality standard.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision of all operators within the Clean Manufacturing Environment, ensuring that product assembly is done in line with defined work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee training of electro-mechanical assembly operatives and maintain training records as required by the Quality Management System.
  • Monitor compliance to Mi3’s Quality and Health and Safety Management Systems and intervene as necessary to address issues through training, mentoring or disciplinary processes as required.
  • Be the subject matter expert in relation to electronics and electro-mechanical assembly including but not limited to ESD, Soldering, PCBA basic troubleshooting, best practises in assembly and handling as well as electrical error fault finding.
  • Define, set-up, maintain and improve production processes for new and existing products.
  • Provide technical support for production processes
  • Testing electronic equipment in accordance with specific test procedures and record, analyse and interpret the test data.
  • Work with colleagues to help design new systems, jigs, fixtures, and devices.
  • Preparation of product documentation and report writing, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Assist and carry out fault finding in electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Generate necessary documentation such as drawings, work instructions, equipment specifications and maintenance manuals for production processes.
  • Provide key support to the New Product Development process, ensuring new products are manufactured to specification whilst interacting with all departments to ensure full compliance.
  • Review and interpret internal data, customer documentation and quality processes.
  • Support specific projects to improve the yield and throughput of electromechanical assemblies including the application of glue and alignment of parts within microns.
  • Investigation and reporting on product issues, getting to root cause of problem
  • Diagnose and test to component level on a wide variety of electronic equipment
Additional Responsibilities

For all tasks, make suggestions for continuous improvement of processes and implement where applicable / requested to do so.

  • At busy times reasonable requests may be made to perform duties of a similar nature
  • Provide cover for team members during periods of absence.
  • Adhere to QMS, HSE policies and procedures and all other Mi3 policies and procedures at all times.
Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum HNC or BSc in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Circa. 3 years’ experience in a Production Engineering Environment.
  • Excellent skills in written and spoken English to enable communication with colleagues and to understand technical and QMS related documents
  • Creative and innovative with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and understand design specifications and technical drawings,
  • A high level of IT skills.
  • Proven record in the design of manufacturing processes, jig and fixtures for electromechanical assemblies.
  • Proven record of improving the manufacturing process with the ability to problem solve and share ideas with team members.
  • Experience of onboarding new products from design into manufacturing.
  • Communication and negotiation skills appropriate to a managerial role which involves persuasion and negotiation with suppliers, internal and external customers and interaction with all levels of employees.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using an ERP system to manage operational activities.
  • Previous experience of working within quality management systems, either ISO 9001, ISO 13485 or similar.

Location

The role is based at the Mi3 facility in Blackburn, Lancashire.

Salary

£30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience.
